The system’s central unit

Every alarm system needs a central unit, which ensures that everything works together. The switchboard is called AJAX Hub and is available in different versions. You can read about the differences between the available versions on the page where we explain how the system works.

The AJAX Hub is the only component within the alarm system that is wired to power. In addition to this 220-volt power supply, another connection is required which ensures that the alarms come in on your smartphone, and that is the Internet. If you do not have a 220-volt power supply, you can also choose a Hub that operates on 12 to 24 volts.

There are several ways to get Internet access on the Hub. If your yacht has a router onboard for the internet, it can be connected to it, preferably wired. If there is only Wi-Fi available at the location where you place the Hub, this is also possible if you choose a Hub with Wi-Fi support such as the Hub Plus.

Is there no Internet on board? That’s no problem either, each Hub is equipped with at least 1 SIM card, so you can use any provider to provide the Internet for the Hub. Only a small data bundle is required for the system to function. It is also possible to install a SIM card as an extra backup, in addition to an existing internet connection, for times when the fixed internet fails on your yacht, the SIM card will take care of its tasks.

Where does a complete security system for your yacht consist of

Each AJAX system always consists of one Hub, and one or more detectors for intrusion detection, or detection of smoke or water. The complete range of available detectors can be found in the category of AJAX products.

Besides detectors, one chooses for sirens, remote controls, and keypads for operating the system. Of course, you can also operate the system at all times with your own smartphone.

Because of the ease of installation that AJAX offers, we strongly recommend the use of AJAX MotionCAM, the motion detector with a built-in photo camera, in combination with the latest Hub 2. Each Hub can wirelessly pair up to 100 detectors, and the Plus versions even up to 150.

Using MotionCAM eliminates the need for wired installation of separate security cameras. With MotionCAM, you can take photos in any location, without wires.
